Triad guide
We gather together weekly in the presence of God to confess our sins, receive forgiveness from the Father, pray for one another, and root our lives in the freedom & mercies of Christ.
Group Commitments
To confess wholeheartedly, allowing the Spirit of God to bring freedom where the adversary would have us cover ourselves in shame
To protect the trust of this space by holding each confession in confidence
To listen to one another without offering up solutions or opinions
To preach the gospel to one another week after week
To contend for one another in prayer, committed to the work of Jesus in one another's lives
Liturgy
0:00–15:00 | Check-In.
Each person shares how they are doing this week.
After everyone has shared:
Pray:
Lord, you know us completely and love us fully. As we gather before you, give us confidence in your mercy through Jesus Christ. Prepare our hearts to confess our sins and receive your grace. Amen.
15:00–20:00 | Scripture
Choose one passage each week and read it aloud twice, allowing a brief moment of quiet between the readings.
Suggested passages:
Psalm 32
Psalm 51
James 5:13–20
1 John 1:5–2:2
Romans 8:1–17
Hebrews 4:14–16
Galatians 5:16–26
Ephesians 4:17–32
After the second reading, observe a minute of silence before moving into confession.
20:00–45:00 | Confession
Each person takes time to confess whatever the Spirit is highlighting.
Some questions to prompt reflection might be:
Where have I resisted God this week?
What sins have I committed in thought, word, or action?
What temptations have I faced?
The other two members listen attentively without interruption.
When the person has finished:
Confessional Liturgy
Confessor:
This is my confession before God and before you. I repent and ask for your prayers.
Group:
Thank you for your confession.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
Because of Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven. Walk in repentance, trust in God's mercy, and continue in the freedom Christ has won for you.
Thanks be to God.
Repeat for each member.
45:00–60:00 | Prayer for One Another
Pray for one person at a time.
As you pray:
Thank God for evidence of his grace.
Pray specifically over what was confessed.
Ask for strength against temptation.
Pray for growth in holiness and love.
Pray for faithfulness in the coming week.
After all three have been prayed for, pray together:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.
