The Way Ministry Internship
As a church, we aim to continually invest in the next generation of Canadian leaders—identifying, developing, & sending out young ministers for the sake of our city and nation.
The Ministry Internship program is designed to give individuals who feel a call towards vocational ministry hands-on experience working with The Way Church team. Successful applicants will join our staff team for 12 months, learning & putting skills into practice as they discern a call towards full-time ministry.
The internship includes a job description built around the needs of the church and the gifts of the individual, on-going development through mentorship, access to The Way College classes, and meaningful opportunities to participate in the life of the church.
We are looking for young leaders who have a deep love for Jesus and the church in Canada, and have graduated post-secondary or have 4+ years of ministry experience.
The apprenticeship runs from the beginning of September 2026 to the end of August 2027.

ENGAGE IN SPECIFIC AREAS OF MINISTRY
This is the 20 hours per week of practical ministry experience you’ll be paid for—attending meetings, coordinating activities, and supporting Sunday & midweek ministries. Throughout the year, you'll also complete 1-2 projects - such as event planning or content creation - with goals set in collaboration with your manager.
MENTORSHIP
Mentorship is primarily experienced in a small group setting where you are given opportunity to discuss your internship experience and ask questions about ministry. This includes internship meetings, lunches with pastoral team members, and regular meetings with your manager.
THEOLOGICAL & MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT
Interns will grow in theological knowledge and ministry development through engaging in weekly Staff Meetings, auditing one course with The Way College, and attending weekly college chapels.

This year’s interns will be expected to work 20 hours per week across various ministry roles, including, but not limited to, Sunday services & midweek ministries.
Interns will also be required to attend 1 class at The Way College (4hr/week including homework), as well as The Way College chapels (1hr/week).
We estimate the internship taking up to 30 hours per week.

Yes, many interns have worked part-time positions alongside the internship.

Yes! Ministry Interns will be paid a monthly stipend of $2000.

Before applying, I was searching for an opportunity to commit myself to vocational ministry. When I found out about this internship, the Lord led me to apply. God has opened this door to serve him this year as I have dedicated my time and learning. I had the opportunity to give and contribute in my small way to The Way church community, while being able to receive and grow in my character and personal calling. The Ministry Internship was the perfect setting to explore what full-time ministry could look like for me. I was able to work both within my giftings & strengths, whilst being challenged and stretched in areas I hadn't yet explored, culminating in a rich learning experience. The staff at The Way consistently inspired me in my discipleship to Jesus and love for His church, allowing a safe space for personal wrestles, spiritual growth, and conviction to be developed. The internship deepened my love for the local church, re-ignited my heart for vocational ministry, and broadened my view of the body of Christ.

The Internship exposed me to diverse ministry teams and opportunities that I wouldn’t have had the chance to explore otherwise. I got a unique window into what daily life in ministry can look like—from how decisions are made to the intentional rhythms that shape staff culture. The team’s collective pursuit of a Spirit-led posture within a task-heavy environment provided a valuable model for all types of ministry settings. The program challenged me to see beyond my own perspective, step into new spaces, and better understand the practicalities of building a healthy local church.
