Scripture

God has always formed His people through His Word. As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we come to know the character of God, discover the story we are part of, and learn to recognize the voice of Jesus shaping every part of our lives.

This pathway is designed to help you grow in your engagement with Scripture, whether you’re opening the Bible for the first time or looking to deepen a lifelong pursuit. Here you’ll find practices that have helped Christians read, meditate on, memorize, and study Scripture throughout the history of the Church, alongside stories and practical ideas from people in our own community.

Don’t feel like you need to try everything. Simply begin somewhere. Our hope is that these stories and practices help you take one step deeper into God’s Word. Whether you’re wondering where to begin or longing to go deeper, we hope these resources help you discover fresh ways of meeting with God. Don’t feel like you need to try everything. Simply begin somewhere. Our hope is that these stories and practices help you take one faithful step deeper into a life of prayer.

I’ve been using the M’Cheyne bible reading plan during my quiet time for the last three years. This plan has four passages to read through per day If I stick to it every day for a year, you end up reading through the Psalms and New Testament twice and the Old Testament once. I typically sit down at the kitchen table with my coffee first thing in the morning at the kitchen table. I find sitting at a talbe helps me engage better, being able to underline and journal any thoughts or prayers that come up. I complete all the readings in one sitting but I’ve heard others reading two passages in the morning and two later in the afternoon/evening. This gives me 20-30 or so minutes each morning that is set aside to help set the tone for the rest of my day. When I have some more time in the morning, I will spend some time writing out my prayer. Sometimes I’m not able to stick to things and that’s okay, I try and come back to it the next day not let myself miss two days in a row to help with the habit I’ve build”
