The Way College is a 4-year accredited program designed to give students a comprehensive view of the Bible, a robust experience of Christian community, and opportunity to grow one’s leadership within local church ministry. 

Theology

With formation and ministry in mind, the program will give students a deep and grounded theological education taught by capable scholars and experienced ministry practitioners.

Ministry

Students will be given opportunities to gain hands-on ministry experience working alongside The Way Church team and lay leaders to train them for future ministry leadership.

Formation

This program is designed to help develop and deepen students’ discipleship to Jesus through intentional formative practices and relational cohorts designed to foster deeper integration between theology, ministry and practice.

Who is The Way College for?

Year 1

Year 1 is designed for anyone desiring to deepen their walk with God, grow in maturity, and explore a call to and set a foundation for vocational ministry.

Years 2-4

Years 2-4 are designed for graduates of the first year program that are looking to pursue vocational ministry and/or pastoral leadership.

Summer Intensives

OPEN TO EVERYONE

This summer, The Way College will run two unique learning experiences as one combined offering. The Summer Intensives will provide accessible learning opportunities for people in the local church to grow in the areas of biblical studies, theology, and other current key themes and topics. Throughout one week (July 2-6), students will engage with leading thinkers and practitioners, participate in a rich learning environment, and come away both enriched and encouraged.

What does a typical week of The Way College look like?

The typical week includes various forms of involvement in church gatherings and small groups, serving opportunities, worship, connection times with classmates, and formal learning experiences.

Our learning experiences are lecture-based, interactive environments designed for deep comprehension of material. Students will also join a church-wide small group and participate in one year of Freedom Session.

*Students are encouraged to join a Small Group one evening a week. Small Groups run on Sundays to Tuesdays.

What learning experiences will be included?

In year 1 each student will study Biblical Overview, Spiritual Formation, Philosophy of Ministry, Church History, Worldview and Ethics, Contemporary Worldview and Apologetics, Missional Life, plus two (2) in-depth learning experiences on individual books of the Bible.

  • The program consists of learning experiences*, group cohorts, and worship environments designed and led by The Way Church staff and guest lecturers. Additionally, students are given opportunities to gain hands-on ministry experience working alongside The Way Church team and lay leaders.

    The program is designed to give students a well-rounded theological education, practical hands-on experience in ministry, and an environment where they can cultivate the strong character and healthy rhythms needed for sustained Christian discipleship and ministry.

    *Our learning experiences are lecture-based, interactive environments designed for deep comprehension of material.

  • The Way College is a contextualization partner of Kairos University (Kairos.edu). Credits earned are transferable to many other post-secondary Christian institutions. For specific inquires fill out our form here.

  • The first year starts September 13, 2023, and ends April 26, 2024.

  • Students should expect approximately 5-7 hours of homework a week in the form of reading and assignments. However, there will be some weeks where the workload will reflect closer to 10 hours a week due to exams and unique events and projects.

  • Yes. We recommend working 15-20 hours a week, providing the hours can work alongside the weekly college schedule. We also strongly encourage limiting working hours to 24 hours per week.

  • We do not provide housing as part of the program, although we encourage you to connect with people at The Way to inquire about potential rental options.

  • Learning experiences, workshops and chapel will be held at The Way Church Offices & Ministry Space on 1155 Thurlow St. in Downtown Vancouver.

  • This really depends on preference and where you live. All our Sunday sites, offices and class locations are easily accessible through transit.

  • Approximately 18 hours a week are spent learning / in-session and about 5 hours a week are spent serving on Sunday and participating in a small group community.

  • Yes, we ask all students to attend one service per week and engage on a serve team as part of the program. This said, we are very committed to encourage reintegration in your local church after graduation.
